Director, Data Center Operations

Department: Data Center Operations

Reports to: Vice President, Technical Operations

Responsibilities:

• Manage the data center operations team consisting of infrastructure and database administrators.
• Oversee the day-to-day operations of Suvoda’s production infrastructure, ensuring availability of all platforms, managing the network configurations, patching, and updating systems as required, and monitoring/responding to alerts.
• Lead capacity planning, partnering with services and product development to ensure adequate hosting capacity is available across all platforms.
• Lead the Change Advisory Board, partnering with quality streamlining the current procedures and processes.
• Participate in Client and Security audits.
• Establish and continually improve processes and procedures for the operation of the hosting infrastructure including automating implementation of changes and recovery from failure, including 24/7/365 monitoring and response procedures for system failures.
• Manage the business continuity and disaster recovery processes and procedures for the hosting infrastructure, partnering with Site Reliability Engineering, Product Development, and Services to manage risk and ensure up-time meets the SLA target.
• Track expenses across the data center and in our Cloud Environment against budget and optimize cost of operating across our infrastructure.
• Track license usage across products used to run and manage our SaaS platform.
• Hire, train, and professionally develop the data center operations team, build a strong and cohesive team, responsible for team performance management.
• Collaborate with other functional stakeholders to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and industry standards in security and privacy.
• Partner with Site Reliability Engineering to manage the relationship with Suvoda’s cloud hosting providers and other vendors.
• Perform other related duties as required.

Requirements:

• At least 5 years of experience managing data center and cloud operations, responsible for the budget, operations, team, and uptime of the cloud service
• At least 10 years of experience with system and network administration, cloud software services, virtual infrastructure, security and datacenter operations
• Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field, or equivalent experience
• Strong expertise in Windows and Linux server OS and network infrastructure
• Deep understanding of best practices in system and network architecture and security across on prem and in the cloud
• Working knowledge with virtualization and container technologies such as VMWare and Kubernetes
• Experience working and operating in an AWS multi-account infrastructure
• Solid understanding of antifragility in systems and resilience engineering
• Demonstrated technical leadership and people supervision skills
• Experience building, developing, and managing technical teams
• Strong decision-making, and problem-solving skills
• Excellent time management and organizational skills
• Strong oral and written communication skills
