Full Job Description

The Registered Nurse (RN) provides professional nursing care to patients in a behavioral health and residential treatment setting. The RN conducts comprehensive assessments, develops and implements nursing care plans, administers medications, and responds to medical and behavioral emergencies. As a clinical leader, the RN promotes safety, recovery, and patient-centered care while collaborating with an interdisciplinary treatment team. RNs may function as Charge Nurses and provide shift leadership as assigned. Clinical practice is subject to ongoing oversight by Nursing Leadership through chart review, competency validation, and policy compliance. Full Time Nights – $4 Shift Diff

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

· Perform comprehensive physical, mental health, and psychosocial assessments upon admission and ongoing as needed.

· Develop individualized nursing care plans and update them based on patient condition and treatment response.

· Safely administer medications and treatments in accordance with physician orders and regulatory standards.

· Monitor and document patient progress, behaviors, treatment responses, and vital signs.

· Participate in crisis prevention and intervention procedures; utilize de-escalation strategies and emergency response protocols.

· Lead nursing shift operations when acting as Charge Nurse, including staffing assignments and patient acuity management.

· Coordinate patient care with physicians, therapists, case managers, and other nursing staff.

· Educate patients and families on medications, health maintenance, coping strategies, and recovery skills.

· Initiate and complete incident reports, status changes, and clinical documentation timely and accurately.

· Ensure compliance with facility policies, nursing standards, ADHS, AHCCCS, and Joint Commission requirements.

· Maintain controlled substance accountability and proper medication documentation.

· Participate in quality improvement initiatives and staff development activities.

· Provide training, orientation, and oversight to LPNs, BHTs, and nursing interns.

QUALIFICATIONS, CERTIFICATIONS, AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:

  • Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing (required).
  • Current and active Arizona Registered Nurse (RN) license (required).
  • Valid Arizona Driver’s License (required).
  • Minimum 1 year of nursing experience preferred.
  • Experience in behavioral health, detox, substance abuse, or psychiatric settings strongly preferred.
  • Leadership or Charge Nurse experience preferred.
  • CPR/FA Certification – to be obtained within first 90 days
  • Fingerprint Clearance Card – to be obtained within first 90 days
  • Handle with Care – to be obtained within first 90 days
  • Successful clearance of annual MVR required if applicable
  • Successful clearance of pre-employment criminal/county/state background check
  • Successful clearance of pre-employment drug and alcohol testing
  • Successful clearance of TB PPD Test upon hire and annual screening for TB symptoms
