The Direct Support Professional (DSP) will serve as a care worker having direct responsibility for guidance and ·supervision of the individuals to whom he/she is assigned who have been diagnosed as intellectually disabled, mental illness or dually diagnosed; oversee physical care; development of acceptable habits· and attitudes; management of individual behavior and helping to meet the goals and objectives of any service plan; ensuring the daily needs of the individuals are properly met; escorts individuals to and from scheduled activities and community activities as assigned, provides direct supervision and guidance to ensure safety and welfare of individuals; ensure presence and well-being of assigned individuals; follows established procedures to report changes/concerns to appropriate persons; observes individuals daily for behavioral changes, physical injuries/conditions and cleanliness; completes documentation in accordance with the individual’s Person Centered Plan (PCP); participates in the Person Centered Plan meeting; performs required housekeeping duties in order to maintain a clean, safe and orderly environment; participates in staff meetings and training as assigned; plans, and implements special activities; completes special projects and other duties as assigned.

Key Qualifications
Education
  • High School Diploma or GED required. CNA certification preferred.

Certifications & Training
  • CPR and First Aid certification required (or ability to obtain upon hire).
  • Additional training may be provided, including medication administration and behavior support training.

Skills & Competencies
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Empathy, patience, and professionalism.
  • Ability to remain calm, respectful, and effective in high-pressure or crisis situations.
  • Strong organizational and documentation skills.
Logistics & Compliance
  • Valid driver’s license with a safe driving record.
  • Ability to pass all required background checks, including vulnerable population screenings.
Physical & Work Requirements
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, and move for extended periods.
  • Ability to lift, transfer, or assist individuals up to 50 pounds, with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • Flexibility to work a 24/7 coverage schedule including weekends and holidays.
