Day Porter
The Day Porter supports the cleanliness, safety, and professional presentation of the data center’s administrative and common areas. This role ensures that offices, conference rooms, restrooms, corridors, and entryways reflect the high standards expected in a mission-critical environment. The position requires professionalism, attention to detail, strong situational awareness, and a customer-service mindset. Work is performed outside of the IT white space, but often near sensitive operations, executives, and client visitors.
Key Responsibilities
- Daily
- Maintain a clean, orderly, and professional appearance across offices, restrooms, break areas, corridors, and lobbies.
- Perform touch-up cleaning and restocking throughout the day without disrupting meetings or tours.
- Empty trash bins, replace liners, sanitize touchpoints, and monitor restroom and breakroom readiness.
- Observe meeting and tour schedules to plan cleaning activities around sensitive discussions or executive visits.
- Inspect entryways and sidewalks for debris or hazards and address promptly.
- Weekly
- Conduct detailed cleaning of high-traffic areas, glass, doors, and fixtures.
- Reset and deep clean conference rooms, ensuring furniture alignment, supply levels, and presentation readiness.
- Wipe and polish stainless steel, windows, and interior glass surfaces.
- Inspect and restock custodial supply inventories.
- Report maintenance issues or safety concerns to the Facilities Manager.
- Monthly
- Perform scheduled floor care (machine scrub or buff of hard surfaces).
- Clean vents, lighting fixtures, and high-touch wall areas.
- Conduct inspections of exterior walkways and building entrances for seasonal maintenance needs.
- Participate in monthly walkthroughs with Facilities or Site Leadership to confirm standards compliance.
- Quarterly
- Support deep-cleaning projects across administrative and shared spaces, including baseboards, walls, and interior glass.
- Assist with preventive cleaning tasks involving HVAC vents, floor polishing, and interior detailing.
- Prepare the site for customer visits, audits, or executive tours through enhanced presentation and readiness.
- Semi-Annual
- Support full-site refreshes and extended cleaning projects.
- Assist with exterior upkeep, including sidewalk de-icing, salting, and snow melt application to maintain safe access during winter months.
- Participate in facilities inspections, documentation updates, and site appearance reviews.
Qualifications
- Minimum 5+ years of custodial, porter, or facilities service experience in secure or professional environments (data center, corporate, healthcare, or hospitality preferred).
- Proven track record of reliability, discretion, and consistent service quality.
- Fluency in English (spoken and written) with clear communication skills for reporting and coordination.
- Strong situational awareness and the ability to adjust work activity around meetings, events, and sensitive operations.
- Knowledge of safe cleaning methods, chemical handling, and the proper use of PPE and de-icing materials.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and composure in high-visibility settings.
Physical and Schedule Requirements
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, and lift up to 40–50 lbs. as needed.
- Day shift role with flexibility for early arrival or extended hours during weather events or facility audits.
- Comfortable working in a secure, access-controlled environment with adherence to safety and security protocols.
