Salary: $117,000.00 - $122,000.00 (Based on qualifications)
Schedule: 7am-3:30pm M-F
Site: On-site position in Kansas City, MO. Relocation assistance available.

Data Center Training Manager

Position Summary

The Data Center Training Manager is responsible for designing, implementing, and managing comprehensive training programs for data center staff. This role ensures that all team members are equipped with the necessary knowledge and skills to perform their duties efficiently and safely, adhering to company policies and industry standards.

Their duties include speaking with department heads and personnel to determine training needs, implementing training programs into company procedures and reviewing data from previous training programs to determine their success in helping employees develop the necessary critical facilities skill sets.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the training curriculum within the Operations organization.
    Administer training curriculum assignment, participation, and scheduling.
  • Develop training standards and qualification requirements for various roles in the department.
  • Develop, coordinate, and implement drills for the operations teams.
  • Develop various defined reports to executive leadership for training compliance.
  • Manage onsite training activity scheduling and participation at remote site operations locations.
  • In conjunction with the Training Department, department heads, divisional leads, and other subject matter experts, design and develop training programs, materials, and resources based on identified needs.
  • Develop training specific templates for courses, reports, and related material.
  • Identify training needs by evaluating employee performance and organizational goals.
  • Assess training effectiveness and adjust as needed to enhance employee performance and organizational success.
  • Coordinate and conduct general training sessions, ensuring effective delivery of content to employees.
  • Assess the effectiveness of training programs through feedback, performance metrics, and other evaluation methods.
  • Modify training programs as necessary to meet evolving organizational needs and industry trends.
  • Manage the budget allocated for training initiatives, ensuring cost-effectiveness.
  • Utilize technology for e-learning, virtual training, and other innovative training solutions.
  • Stay informed about industry trends and best practices in training and development.
  • Maintain accurate records of training activities, attendance, and results.
  • Effectively communicate with employees, management, and other stakeholders to promote the value of training initiatives.
  • Provide leadership and guidance to department staff, fostering a positive learning culture within the organization.
  • Stay updated on emerging technologies in data center management and incorporate them into training programs.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 7-9 years of experience in data center operations or related engineering fields, with leadership experience in mission-critical environments.
  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical or mechanical engineering preferred.
  • Proven expertise in commissioning, operating, and maintaining complex infrastructure systems.
  • Strong understanding of redundancy configurations (N+1, 2N, ATS/STS) and associated risk mitigation.
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting MEP drawings and structured cabling standards.
  • Experience in colocation operations, including cage, rack, cable, and power infrastructure deployment (preferred).
  • Familiarity with PLC systems, DCIM platforms, CMMS, and power metering technologies.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to identify root causes and recommend corrective actions.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and familiarity with project management and design tools.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead teams, conduct training, and manage vendor relationships.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and organizational skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 5 years of progressive, hands-on experience in critical, data center operations, maintenance, and engineering within the data center industry or Military (ex: Navy Nuke, Electrician / Machinist Mate) environment or other relevant experience.
  • Candidate must be technically proficient in planning, scheduling, and exhibit excellent organizational skills.
  • Candidate must possess strong communication skills, the ability to lead coordination meetings, and actively facilitate progress to achieve scheduled goals.
  • Demonstrates and has good people skills, good judgment, and flexibility.
  • Strong proficiency in the use of Microsoft Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Word.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift and carry heavy equipment, up to 40lbs.
  • Ability to climb ladders and multiple flights of stairs to access elevated equipment
  • Ability to stand for long periods of time in various work environments
  • Ability to bend, stoop, kneel, and reach for equipment related tasks
  • Basic physical fitness to respond quickly to emergency situations and navigate areas quickly
  • Ability to move quickly and efficiently withing various work environments to troubleshoot issues or respond to emergencies.
  • Good hand-eye coordination and dexterity for working with small components and connectors
  • Clear vision, with or without correction, to perform tasks requiring attention to detail and precision while wearing safety glasses
  • Ability to differentiate between color-coded warning signs, labels, and cables
  • Ability to work in environments with a wide variety temperature inside a facility
  • Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions, including extreme temperatures, rain, or snow
  • Capability to work in environments with elevated noise levels while wearing hearing protection
  • Possession of a valid driver’s license for work-related travel, as required

Site Location: We operate a 24-hour facility where work hours (shifts) are assigned as needed to ensure job functions are performed satisfactorily, compliance is maintained, and the company operates efficiently. Certain positions, as specified in your offer letter, may require working irregular hours, such as nights, weekends, overtime, alternating shifts, and under various conditions, including outdoor work during extreme weather or in hazardous environments.
