This is an exciting time to join the team as we step up operations in new countries and commence work on new and challenging projects. As a result of this growth, we are looking to recruit and develop a Data Centre Senior Engineer.
The Data Centre Senior Engineer is responsible for ensuring that all electrical, mechanical, and fire/life safety equipment within the data center is operating at peak efficiency. This involves both planned preventative maintenance of equipment, daily corrective work, and emergency response to emergent issues. The Senior Engineer maintains relationships with third party vendors. Data center equipment that supports mission-critical servers must maintain better than 99.999% uptime. This equipment includes, but is not limited to, standby diesel generators, switchgear, UPSs, PDUs, AHUs, chillers, cooling towers, chemical treatment systems, pumps, motors, VFDs, and building automation systems.
** This role will work on a 2-shift work pattern including night shifts.**
Requirements
- Manage all SLA’s towards customers 100% Uptime (Temp., Hum, power, PUE/WUE, relation).
- Responsible for ensuring the safe, effective, and efficient delivery of planned maintenance, that meets all standards and procedures, by leveraging competent contractor/vendor resources with attention to quality.
- Ensures that the Manager of Operations is fully informed and briefed on all planned and corrective work occurring in the datacenter.
- Plans and implements customer requested work in a timely manner. Ensures that the customer and Manager of Operations are informed on the status and details of the work.
- In concert with the Manager of Operations:
- Plans work on 1-line equipment according to Planned Preventive Maintenance Schedule, including roadmap to be approved by Manager of Operations and/or Nominated person in control of an electrical installation.
- Prepares detailed Method of Procedure to be approved by Manager of Operations and/or nominated person in control of an electrical installation.
- Organizes all testing of mission critical equipment on the site.
- Responsible for ensuring that all work being done by contractors/vendors is logged in systems.
- Responsible for ensuring that all work being done by contractors/vendors is being done in accordance with the approved Method of Procedure.
- During normal working hours, responds to alarms, critical situations, and emergencies in a proper and timely manner. Responsible for communicating in a calm and clear manner and in accordance with the emergency response plan.
- Will take initiative to ensure that quality and efficiency standards are raised for all the equipment in the datacenter. This includes finding ways to deliver cost savings without sacrificing quality.
- Finds ways to increase energy efficiency without sacrificing continuity or uptime of the site.
- Administers in a correct and timely manner all executed work in accordance with all process and procedures.
- Works effectively and efficiently with others inside the organization
- In Emergencies, responsible for the timely response to ensure safety and operational continuity on site.
- Is constantly monitoring the site to ensure that safety standards are met.
Qualifications
- Knowledge of Electrical and Mechanical systems in use in the Datacenter environment including transformers, generators, switchgear, UPS systems, ATS & STS units, RPP units, chillers, CRAC/CRAH units
- Strong communications, both written and verbal, in leading teams and coordinating with peers and other disciplines on driving projects/issues to closure.
- Commitment to organizational excellence and constant awareness to seek opportunities to improve processes/quality of deliverables.
- Superb ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects/responsibilities.
- Superb ability to meet committed timelines, leveraging assistance/input from peers.
- Strong and effective team player in working with various disciplines and peer groups; can cover all gamut of tasks required to ‘getting a job done.’
- Strong attention to detail.
Experience/Education
- At least 7-years of experience or HBO (Bachelor of Science/Bachelor of Engineering);
- QQI Level 6 Certification
- LV/HV authorized to switch Certificate
- Mechanical and/or Electrical training/education, with particular focus in power;
- Must have or be able to complete Safety for Operational Supervisors training and OSHA 30 shortly after start of employment.
- Relevant work experience in a data center or other critical environment.
- High school diploma or College Degree
- Good observation skills and problem-solving ability
- Good verbal and written communication skills in English
The role is a full-time position, and your base salary will be commensurate with experience but is expected to be highly competitive. The opportunity is located in Dublin, Ireland and will include business travel as needed to meet business demands but will likely be nominal.
