This is an exciting time to join the team as we step up operations in new countries and commence work on new and challenging projects. As a result of this growth, we are looking to recruit and develop a Data Centre Construction Manager.
The Construction Manager’s main responsibility is to observe and report daily progress of the project in a clear and unbiased way, ensuring both off-site and on-site teams are informed of project progress and jobsite activities, enabling proactive issue resolution and continuous improvement.
Our CMs do not manage the project or contractors. They serve as the eyes and ears for the Client, keeping the leadership team fully informed on construction progress, safety, finance, and quality.
Daily, our CMs and Sr CMs provide comprehensive project updates through daily logs, photos, and infrastructure trackers. They escalate RFIs, submittals, and other issues impacting schedule, cost, safety, or quality. Information is transparently shared with the team without attempting to resolve issues independently.
Primary Duties:
- Onboarding Training

- Meeting Notes Template
- Identify and specify project opportunities and deliver contractual commitments.
- Utilize strategic development opportunities to increase turnover and profitability.
- Ensure projects are completed on time, within budget, and to client satisfaction, aiming to exceed expectations.
- Manage risks associated with each project (technical, statutory, health and safety, commercial, etc.).
- Ensure compliance with project management policies and procedures.
- Maintain healthy and safe working conditions, complying with client and company health and safety policies.
- Build strong relationships with subcontractors to deliver cost-effective solutions meeting quality expectations.
- Collaborate with operational managers for effective teamwork and project development.
- Develop project financial plans for revenue and profit delivery.
- Ensure positive cash flow through upfront agreement of payment schedules and timely invoices.
- Create daily logs, unpolished and unfiltered write-ups focusing on construction items, team interactions, accomplishments, and potential issues. Sections should cover each infrastructure tracker, RFIs, submittals, change orders, and general topics needing escalation.
- Daily Photos: Take up to 200 photos of work in progress using an approved photo tool.
- Daily Infrastructure Trackers: Update and attach infrastructure trackers to the Daily Log.
- Daily Follow-Up: Respond to comments and queries on daily logs and photos, saving responses in Procore.
- Meeting Notes: Document notes for each job meeting, focusing on discussion points, tone, and project impacts.
- Weekly Safety Audits: Perform audits using Procore’s inspection tool.
- Daily Senior CM Meetings: Discuss daily activities, facilitate videoconference calls, and identify outstanding RFIs and submittals for escalation.
- Camera Check: Ensure cameras provide a clear view, reporting issues to client and working with Camera Systems for corrections
- Change management (Change Order Logs).
- Risk management (Escalation of issues and Risk Exposure Log).
- Safety leadership (Weekly safety audits and Compass Cares Safety Program).
Additional Duties:
- Deliver effective business communication through advice, leadership, and direct contribution to meetings, briefings, consultations, correspondence, and reporting.
- Maintain a customer focus within operational activities and relationships with key client contacts.
- Promote and maintain core values of Salute.

Required Qualifications, Skills, and Experience:
- College degree or equivalent; qualifications in project management.
- Proficient with Microsoft Applications.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Experience working in a team environment but comfortable working independently.
- Demonstrated ability to work efficiently, manage time, and plan ahead.
- Ability to pivot between competing priorities and situations.
Preferred Qualifications, Skills, and Experience:
- Experience in project leadership and project management in the construction industry.
- Knowledge of datacenter functionality.
- Demonstrated initiative where necessary.
The role is a full-time position, and your base salary will be commensurate with experience but is expected to be highly competitive. The opportunity is located in Milan, Italy and will include business travel as needed to meet business demands but will likely be nominal.
