Job Title: Senior Multi-Skilled Operator Job Summary:

The Senior Multi-Skilled Operator’s primary responsibility is to lead an effective team of operators to complete all tasks as directed by the Data Center Manager and to report on any condition affecting building services and tenant comfort or safety. Specific areas of expertise include data center services, preventive maintenance, equipment monitoring, and support of IT systems, network services, business-critical process, and procedures. Work requires strong formal conduct of operations skills, technical expertise, team accountability, and flawless execution of work activities commensurate with a high-risk critical environment and associated expectations for exceptional customer satisfaction and confidence.

Salary and Schedule: This position is a yearly salaried position with a range of $100,000-112,600. The schedule is Monday - Friday 12pm - 8pm.

Qualifications:

Responsibilities:

  • Supervises the execution of shift priorities, training, and personnel development. Ensures Multi-Skilled Operators are properly trained and qualified for their associated work in a critical environment, including full implementation and strict adherence to MOPs/SOPs.
  • Ensures team success in the execution of all operation, maintenance, and modification of all critical environment building systems tasks assigned, to include: mechanical (including HVAC, computer room air conditioners, chillers, and plumbing) electrical (including UPS, DC battery systems, PDU, generators, transfer switches, and switchgear), cabling (including data and voice, broad band), fire detection and suppression, life safety, lighting, temperature control systems, building management systems, and digital systems (including fire
  • alarm, duress, card access, CCTV).
  • Leads team to complete planned and ad-hoc preventive maintenance work assignments requiring the skill and direction of several engineering, mechanical, and maintenance trades
  • Ensures completion of periodic building systems inspections, i.e., HVAC, electrical distribution systems and maintain mechanical equipment rooms to verify clean and safe conditions
  • Trains operators on and provides rapid response, investigation, and management of indoor emergency situations and air quality complaints
  • Creates, closes, and tracks "work requests" (WR). Initiates or responds to work orders, follow-up and verify completion of work
  • Monitors performance/note deficiencies of service contractors and recommend changes as necessary
  • Leads delivery of data center services including colocation, telecommunications services, and deployment of additional services to customers and internal business systems.
  • Acts as a focal point to data center customers, vendors, and carriers as it relates to colocation, connectivity, and network products and services.
  • Leads team tasks under the direction of the Network/Engineering Infrastructure Manager and IT Manager necessary to support internal networks, IT infrastructure, computers, electronics, and telephone systems.
  • Supervises team’s activities inside IT and telecommunications rooms or cabinets such as the installation of IT and network hardware, making or running patch cables, and verifying or testing cable paths.
  • Coordinates and oversees access to and work within the facility with third-party contractors, vendors, and carriers related to structured cabling installation, circuit delivery and equipment installations in IT and telecommunications rooms and customer space.
  • Provides support to offsite points-of-presence at remote locations and aids in operations, administration, and maintenance of infrastructure, network equipment, and tasks related to the delivery and support of network services.
  • Supervisors team tasks and performance for other related duties and responsibilities as assigned by management

Requirements:

  • A minimum of 5-7 years of directly related experience in the operation, installation, and maintenance of data center critical equipment, building systems with in-depth technical understanding and knowledge of all HVAC, electrical, plumbing, fire/life safety, and control systems
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) . Technical experience 5+ years in electrical and mechanical systems used in a data center environment, including Feeders, Transformers, Generators, Switchgear, UPS systems, ATS/STS units, PDU/PMM units, Chillers, Air handling units, and CRAC units.
  • Experienced in leading small teams, training operators, superior observation and problem-solving skills.
