The role of the Mechanical Subject Matter Expert (SME) is the foremost technical leader on HVAC and other fluid systems for their site. SMEs serve as mentors to Facilities and Commissioning Engineers in the field and classroom. This role is hands-on within critical environments.

Primary Duties within varied scope of work and expectations will range from:

Optimizes the reliability and performance of the mechanical systems within data centers Enhances team ability to operate, maintain, and repair electrical systems

Oversees the preparation, execution, and quality control of all work on electrical systems

Develops and maintains operating procedures (SOP/MOP/EOP)

Leads the root cause analysis (RCA) process for electrical system events, faults, and issues

Manages the vendor relationships which provide support for electrical systems

Train facility engineers on electrical system fundamentals during the initial qualification process

Delivers formal classroom training on electrical systems for the data center operations team

Required Qualifications, Skills, and Experience for Success for varied Client SOW:

Possesses 8 Years experience in a electrical role in a mission critical environment or ABET-accredited bachelor’s degree in engineering or engineering technology with 4 years of experience

Demonstrated comprehensive experience performing electrical operations, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs

Possesses the ability to interpret schematics and technical drawings

Possesses working knowledge of mechanical controls, and fire suppression/alarm systems associate with mission critical environments

Demonstrated experience working in a collaborative multi-disciplined environment Possesses strong proficiency with Microsoft Office suite

Willings to grow personal development and technical qualifications

Preferred Qualifications, Skills, and Experience:

ABET-accredited bachelor’s degree in engineering or engineering technology Master Electrician license

NETA Level 4 Technician certified

NICET Level IV Electrical Power Testing Certification Level 3 Infrared Thermography Certification

UPS, STS, ATS, large-frame circuit breaker, and diesel generator certifications issued by the OEM

Data Center Certified Associate (DCCA or Certified Mission Critical Operator (CMCO) credentialed

Possesses familiarity with NFPA standards Possesses familiarity with IEC standards

Possess familiarity with the IEEE standards Background in the data center industry

Physical Requirements:

o Ability to lift and carry heavy equipment, often up to 40 pounds

o Ability to climb ladders and multiple flights of stairs to access elevated equipment

o Ability to stand for extended periods while performing tasks in various work environments

o Basic physical fitness to respond quickly to emergency situations and navigate areas efficiently

o Ability to bend, stoop, and kneel for equipment-related tasks

o Possess good hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity for working with small components and connectors

o Possess ability to differentiate between color-coded warning signs, labels, and cables

o Possess ability to move quickly and efficiently within various work environments to troubleshoot issues or respond to emergencies

o Possess ability to work in environments with a wide variety temperature inside a facility

o Possess ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions, including extreme temperatures, rain, or snow

o Possess capability to work in environments with elevated noise levels while wearing hearing protection
