The Critical Facility Engineer is the expert in facilitating the work of data centers and must be clued up on the latest technology pertinent to servers, hardware, operating systems, and maintaining infrastructure. Critical Facility Engineer responsibilities include rack installation, including electrical and mechanical system components.

Primary duties within varied scope of work and client expectations will range from

Conduct the day-to-day operations for the Data Center Install racks and enclosures for equipment

Prepare equipment for installation

Update cable management systems as changes are made to the DC cable plant Update asset management systems as equipment is added/removed

Execute tasks for each project and work with all teams to meet timelines Communicate project status updates to all teams and stakeholders

Communicate information to assist with capacity planning for space, power, data communications, and cooling

Manage vendor resources to complete tasks as defined in SOWs Coordinate delivery and shipping of all equipment

Access, install, remove, and test electrical components

  • Electrical whip installation within Whitespace

Complete termination of power cabling, moves-adds-and changes (MAC)

Panel installations, patch cord management, cabinet installation, and proper device connections as directed

Installation and quality control inspections on mechanical system components

Policing of computer rooms, always ensuring cleanliness and that no cardboard is stored

Reports hazards and violations of any safety issues

Additional Accountabilities

100% completion and fulfillment of Client SOW and expectations 100% accurate and timely documentation of work orders

Accurate and timely submission of timesheet documentation

Accurate and timely submission of Task Hazard/Job Hazard Assessments

Accurate and timely submission of Incident Reports

100% completion of required Safety and Compliance training courses as assigned

100% adherence to Salute Mission Critical safety standards and best practices 100% adherence to client security/privacy practices and expectations

Required qualifications, skills, experience for success:

Experience in Data Centers and co-location environments managing hardware assets Demonstrable project management experience with the ability to manage tasks

under tight deadlines

Experience with a large variety of different vendor hardware: servers, storage, and network equipment

Experience in contributing to detailed project plans for programs involving cross-functional teams and challenging requirements

Demonstrated ability to coordinate issue resolution across departmental teams Experience with Asset Management Systems

Experience in managing inventory of cable, power cords and other infrastructure items

Possess a valid driver’s license for work-related travel, as required

Physical ability to lift at least 50-70 lbs. on a regular basis, and able to use server lifts or pallet jacks

Physical Requirements:

o Ability to lift and carry heavy equipment, often up to 40 pounds

o Ability to climb ladders and multiple flights of stairs to access elevated equipment

o Ability to stand for extended periods while performing tasks in various work environments

o Basic physical fitness to respond quickly to emergency situations and navigate areas efficiently

o Ability to bend, stoop, and kneel for equipment-related tasks

o Possess good hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity for working with small components and connectors

o Possess ability to differentiate between color-coded warning signs, labels, and cables

o Possess ability to move quickly and efficiently within various work environments to troubleshoot issues or respond to emergencies

o Possess ability to work in environments with a wide variety temperature inside a facility

o Possess ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions, including extreme temperatures, rain, or snow

o Possess capability to work in environments with elevated noise levels while wearing hearing protection
