The Vice President, Strategic Solutions serves in a hybrid executive role spanning business development support, solutioning, service delivery, and advisory operations. This leader is responsible for helping shape winning solutions before contract award, validating scope and operating assumptions during the sales cycle, and leading operational readiness through kickoff, ramp-up, documentation, and handoff into steady-state delivery. The role functions as a senior internal and external interface, aligning Sales, Solutioning, PMO, Delivery, and Operations to ensure clients receive commercially sound, operationally executable, and scalable solutions.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
- Partner with Business Development and Solutioning teams during pre-award phases to support pursuit strategy, solution design, staffing assumptions, pricing inputs, OPEX planning, and contract validation.
- Review proposed scopes of work, service levels, commercial assumptions, and delivery risks to ensure solutions are executable, scalable, and aligned to company standards.
- Serve as an executive subject matter expert in customer discussions, design meetings, pre-operational planning sessions, and cross-functional meetings with clients, vendors, and general contractors.
- Lead the transition from contract award through kickoff, operational readiness, commissioning support, go-live, and formal handoff to steady-state operations.
- Build and validate site-specific staffing models, training plans, readiness plans, and operational support structures for new and expanding accounts.
- Drive the development, standardization, and quality of operational documentation, including SOPs, MOPs, EOPs, customer playbooks, turnover packages, and related operating materials.
- Act as a key escalation point across internal stakeholders and customers to resolve issues, remove barriers, and maintain delivery momentum.
- Ensure efficient and accurate workflow execution across design, ordering, implementation, and service activation processes in a fast-changing environment.
- Partner closely with Delivery, PMO, Site Operations, and supporting corporate functions to maintain alignment from sales through execution.
- Establish performance expectations, operational benchmarks, and accountability measures tied to readiness, documentation quality, customer satisfaction, and successful handoff outcomes.
- Lead through ambiguity and organizational change by bringing clarity, structure, energy, and execution discipline.
- Build, mentor, and influence high-performing leaders, SMEs, and support personnel across functional boundaries.
- Support the growth of billable advisory and Owner Representative services by helping define scopes, rate structures, delivery packages, and recovery strategies.
- Manage budget considerations, resource planning, vendor collaboration, and other executive-level responsibilities as assigned.
Leadership Expectations
- Empower a culture of safety, security, compliance, transparency, and customer accountability.
- Provide strategic and tactical leadership that advances company goals while improving operational consistency and quality.
- Communicate clearly across executive, customer, and field audiences.
- Drive continuous improvement and institutionalize best practices across sales support, transition planning, and operational delivery.
- Represent the company with credibility, professionalism, and sound judgment in both internal and client-facing environments.
Key Success Measures
- Successful support of new business pursuits through strong operational solutioning, risk review, and OPEX development.
- Timely completion of readiness plans, staffing plans, documentation packages, and handoff deliverables for awarded accounts.
- High-quality collaboration between commercial and operational teams from pre-award through steady-state transition.
- Documentation accuracy, implementation quality, and customer satisfaction on strategic engagements.
- Consistent achievement of business goals, project milestones, and assigned performance targets.
Required Qualifications, Skills, and Experience
- Minimum 5+ years of experience in leadership roles within operational delivery, solutioning, consulting, advisory services, or related departmental oversight; deeper executive-level experience strongly preferred.
- Proven track record of building business strategy, improving execution quality, and leading complex cross-functional initiatives.
- Strong experience supporting both pre-sales and field operations processes.
- Demonstrated ability to influence teams across Sales, Operations, PMO, and customer-facing functions toward a shared outcome.
- Strong analytical, planning, issue resolution, and project management capabilities.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including executive presence in customer and internal leadership settings.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple complex initiatives simultaneously, establish priorities, and navigate competing demands.
- Strong customer service mindset and ability to operate effectively with both team support and independent judgment.
- Experience collaborating with vendors, contractors, and external stakeholders.
- Strong working knowledge of Microsoft applications and operational workflow tools.
Preferred Qualifications
- Knowledge of data center functionality and operations.
- Experience in colocation, mission critical environments, commissioning support, or owner representative engagements.
- Experience developing operating playbooks, procedures, and documentation standards.
- Strong critical thinking, problem-solving, collaboration, and personal credibility.
Additional Accountabilities
- 100% fulfillment of established business goals, objectives, and targets.
