Critical Facilities Technician:
The Critical Facilities Technician’s primary responsibility is to execute the Maintenance and Operations Program by upholding the client’s standards and coordinating with the client’s site operations team. You will be responsible for performing and assisting with preventative and ongoing maintenance for non-critical mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and other infrastructure systems in mission-critical data centers to ensure operational efficiency and maximum facility uptime. You will also be responsible for regularly inspecting and monitoring equipment and responding to irregular or malfunctioning conditions. The Critical Facilities Technician responds quickly to emergency situations that may be detrimental to the facility’s operations and coordinates with other critical facilities professionals to perform corrective repairs. The technician also complies with organizational and governmental standards for operations and work safety.
Responsibilities:
- Perform maintenance activities to ensure the highest level of efficiency without disruption to the business
- Accurate and timely completion of work order requests that include performing equipment inspections through the daily recording of rounds and readings
- Responsible for the safe and efficient operation of the facilities including all non-critical building systems.
- Filter Changes / Cleaning
- CRAH media cleaning/replacement
- Snow removal / Salting (if applicable)
- Painting
- Door hardware repair/replacement
- Changing light bulbs/ballast
- Hanging art work
- Replacing carpet tiles
- Vehicle maintenance (Trucks, side by side, skid steer, forklifts, pallet jacks etc.)
- Work with the client and data center personnel to schedule equipment to be taken offline so that preventative maintenance can be performed.
- Monitor operation of electrical and mechanical equipment supporting the facility and facility’s critical operations.
- Vendor oversight and escort
- Provide vendor support for project and task oversight.
- Must be able to immediately respond to operational and emergency situations.
- Perform other duties as required.
Key Qualifications:
- Must demonstrate an understanding of risk mitigation practices and their application in critical sites.
- Demonstrated excellent verbal/written communication skills.
- Ability to prioritize and demonstrate excellent time management.
- Knowledge of electrical distribution systems and over current protective devices.
- Familiarity with sophisticated equipment monitoring, alarm, and building automated management systems in all aspects of life safety and fire alarm systems.
- Must be a team player committed to working in a continuously improving, quality environment.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift and carry heavy equipment, up to 40lbs.
- Ability to climb ladders and multiple flights of stairs to access elevated equipment
- Ability to stand for long periods of time in various work environments
- Ability to bend, stoop, kneel, and reach for equipment related tasks
- Basic physical fitness to respond quickly to emergency situations and navigate areas quickly
- Ability to move quickly and efficiently withing various work environments to troubleshoot issues or respond to emergencies.
- Good hand-eye coordination and dexterity for working with small components and connectors
- Clear vision, with or without correction, to perform tasks requiring attention to detail and precision while wearing safety glasses
- Ability to differentiate between color-coded warning signs, labels, and cables
- Ability to work in environments with a wide variety temperature inside a facility
- Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions, including extreme temperatures, rain, or snow
- Capability to work in environments with elevated noise levels while wearing hearing protection
- Possession of a valid driver’s license for work-related travel, as required
Education:
- High School diploma or GED equivalent
- Experience in a mission critical site environment preferred
Work Schedule:
- Critical Facilities Technicians operate on a standard 8-hour day working shift with an average 40-hour work week.
- Overtime may be required depending on business needs.
- Must be able to work weekends, holidays, overtime as required.
Compensation & Benefits Disclosure
The hourly rate for this role is $31.00 per hour. This range reflects a good‑faith estimate of what we reasonably expect to pay upon hire, based on factors such as skills, experience, education, and market/location. Our comprehensive benefits include health, dental, and vision insurance, Health Savings Account (HSA), gym discount, mental health, Discounted Group Life & AD&D, Discounted Group Short & Long-term Disability, 401(k) retirement matching, PTO/paid holidays, and parental leave. This posted hourly rate is the final rate of pay for the position, based on job‑related factors consistent with applicable law.
