- Taxability Research & Analysis: Perform deep-dive research into state and local tax (SALT) laws to determine the accurate taxability of products and services utilized and sold by Equifax and its subsidiaries.
- Strategic Client Consultation: Lead internal and external client meetings to address complex inquiries and provide expert guidance regarding product taxability.
- Contractual Review: Evaluate and refine indirect tax clauses within client contractual agreements to ensure regulatory compliance and risk mitigation.
- GL & Financial Integrity: Manage general ledger accounting for tax, including the precision reconciliation of GL account details against billing data and Vertex tax reports.
- Systems Management: Serve as a functional user and administrator of Vertex tax application software and supporting technology platforms.
- Audit Defense & Mitigation: Direct audit mitigation strategies related to sales, use, and property taxes to protect company interests.
- Notice Resolution & Documentation: Resolve state tax notices by preparing formal letters of understanding and technical memorandums detailing company actions.
- Regulatory Compliance: Oversee the preparation and filing of business registration documents to ensure multi-state operational standing.
- Operational Excellence: Manage essential administrative workflows, including the meticulous maintenance of state and local tax files and compliance calendars
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- 5-7 years of experience in indirect tax, with a specific focus on technology or multi-state service industries.
- Specific, measurable experience implementing or maintaining Vertex tax software integrated with Oracle or similar global ERPs.
- Demonstrated ability to perform complex tax research using digital research platforms and translating findings into business requirements.
- Direct experience managing and successfully closing state and local indirect tax audits.
- Advanced data literacy, including the ability to manipulate large datasets in Excel or similar analytics platforms for tax reporting.
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Master of Taxation.
- Big 4 public accounting experience with a focus on State & Local Tax (SALT).
- Experience with Alteryx, Tableau, or AI-driven tax automation tools.
- Knowledge of Google Cloud Platform and Google Workspace tools.
- A "Grow and Innovate" mindset with a track record of automating manual financial processes.
