Role: Purchasing Specialist
Reports to: Manager, Purchasing & Analytics
FLSA: Non-Exempt
Location: Raleigh, NC
Why this role is important at Genesee Scientific?
This role is responsible for the execution of established Purchasing strategies and procedures. A primary function includes planning and coordinating purchase from suppliers to multiple distribution centers. The role will work with stakeholders across functional boundaries to ensure high levels of customer satisfaction and operation performance related to the procurement of inventory.
What will you do: Execute daily purchasing and inventory activities to ensure product availability across distribution centers
- Maintain inventory levels at established reorder points to support timely order fulfillment and service standards
- Create and process purchase orders with approved vendors and suppliers
- Build and maintain strong vendor relationships and support vendor performance tracking and communication
- Collaborate with Product Management on demand planning, product lifecycle updates, and forecast alignment
- Support new product launches by onboarding vendors and establishing stocking plans
- Coordinate inbound deliveries and scheduling with warehouse teams to ensure accurate receiving and put-away
- Monitor slow-moving, excess, and obsolete inventory and partner with Warehouse and Finance on appropriate disposition
- Identify and communicate potential supply risks, delays, or shortages proactively
- Research and resolve pricing, invoice, SKU, and packing list discrepancies with cross-functional teams
- Maintain organized, compliant purchasing and inventory documentation in accordance with company standards
- Support tracking and reporting of key distribution and inventory performance indicators
What you will bring:
- Requires a high school diploma or equivalent and two or more years of related experience in inventory planning and control
- Must have a general understanding of inventory planning and control concepts and principles and a working knowledge of computer-based manufacturing systems and MRP
- Must be customer focused and possess the ability to identify and analyze issues and interpret data
- Strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills to interface with all levels of internal employees and external vendors and to accurately document and report
- Desire to work as part of a team, but also able to work independently and solve problems quickly.
- Basic computer operations with familiarity in
Microsoft Office Suite applications, including Teams, and ERP software preferred. - Thrives in a fast-paced, collaborative environment. Works efficiently within deadlines.

Starting Rate: $20.00/hr. (salary may increase based on experience)
