Surgical Technician

This individual is responsible for assisting the surgeon and nurse in rendering professional care to patients undergoing surgical procedures within the center in accordance with established procedures. *Overtime may be required.
Job Responsibilities:
- Assists in preparing the operating room for the planned procedure.
- Assists with maintaining an adequate inventory of supplies.
- Sets up sterile operating field with instruments and supplies necessary for that procedure; arranges instruments, sutures, drapes, and supplies per AORN standards.
- Observes strict aseptic technique throughout the entire procedure and report break-in technique to the circulating nurse and the surgeon.
- Passes instruments, supplies, and sutures to the surgeon and assistants as needed and in such a manner so that their attention is not diverted from the operative field.
- Sees that all instruments, needles, sponges, and other supplies are removed from the operative field.

- At least one year of surgical experience or completion of a formal surgical technician program required.
