Description

Position Summary:

Reporting directly to the Co-CEO (Growth), the Vice President of Business Development plays a pivotal role in developing and executing a comprehensive business development strategy to drive revenue growth, expand market share across established and emerging regions in the Southeast, and create long-term value for the company. You will lead a team identifying and pursuing strategic partnerships, new market opportunities, and innovative business models that align with our overall growth objectives. Moreover, the VP of Business Development (BD) oversees seamless post-acquisition transitions, collaborating closely with EHA leadership and integration teams to ensure operational cohesion and sustained growth.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

Strategic Acquisitions:

  • Lead the strategic sourcing and execution of accretive acquisitions, ensuring alignment with EHA’s growth strategy.
  • Build structure for BD process from start to finish with meticulous follow-through. No deals are lost due to lack of communication. No “stone is unturned.” Finds lucrative deals ahead of the competition.
  • Manage execution of pipeline. Lead the precise identification and profiling of MSAs, practices, and providers, ensuring an efficient lead generation process.
  • Speed, sense of urgency with ability to prioritize deals.

Outreach and Relationship Management:

  • Consistently cultivates relationship-building with potential sellers, brokers, and professional affiliations.
  • Drive EHA stakeholder relationships in outreach with potential sellers.
  • Directly engage with acquisition targets and manage broker, banker, and industry contact outreach.
  • Support provider recruitment process to facilitate EHA’s organic growth (tuck-ins).
  • Maintain relationships with the existing network of acquisition targets through regular communication.

Negotiation and Diligence:

  • Build the deal structure understanding the financial ramifications of overpaying for deals.
  • Negotiate terms in LOI and definitive agreements, modeling acquisition economics in coordination with the FP&A team, and C-Suite.
  • Lead comprehensive diligence efforts, including legal, compliance, and financial diligence.

Integration and Communication:

  • Manage pre-closing integration tasks and ensure a smooth transition to the Integration Manager.
  • Work as a strategic partner with EHA C-Suite and Physicians in the M&A process.
  • Foster effective communication with the EHA team to ensure coordination throughout the M&A pipeline and socialize provider names with shareholders.

Documentation and Refinement:

  • Accountability. Track activities and maintain relevant information in CRM with consistent follow-through on leads.
  • Continually refine the M&A playbook, pitch deck, and M&A processes.
  • Identify synergies and profit improvement opportunities related to acquisitions.
  • Support the development of de novo opportunities in growth markets.
Requirements

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Extensive M&A experience, preferably in Physician services.
  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • A background in investment banking, private equity or a similar field is preferred.
  • 4+ years of transaction experience, having been involved in more than 5 transactions.
