Position:

DaySmart is a looking for a senior data engineer to join our data engineering and analytics team. In this role, you will be responsible for designing, building, and maintaining robust data pipelines and infrastructure to support analytics and reporting across the organization.

You will develop and optimize ETL/ELT processes, and build clean, well-structured data models that serve as trusted sources for key business decisions. You’ll take ownership of data outcomes end-to-end — from ingestion and transformation to performance and quality — ensuring that the data products you deliver drive measurable impact.

You must be eager to collaborate cross-functionally to ensure that models are accurate and useful. You will be planning, designing and building models which drive key business decision. This is a senior role where you will be expected to be hands-on taking messy requirements and providing insights. This role will report to the Director of Data and collaborate closely with many teams including Product, Finance, and Customer Success.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Build clean, well-structured data models: Create trusted, reusable data assets that enable accurate reporting and insightful decision-making
  • Design and optimize data pipelines: Develop, maintain, and scale reliable ETL/ELT workflows to support business intelligence and advanced analytics
  • Own data outcomes end-to-end: Ensure data quality, reliability, and performance across the full lifecycle, from ingestion through consumption
  • Drive best practices and mentorship: Contribute to technical strategy, improve engineering standards, and coach junior team members to foster a culture of excellence
  • Collaboration: Work cross-functionally to ensure that data strategies align with business goals and operational requirements.
  • Analytics & Insights: Enable teams to leverage data analytics to drive insights, innovation, and improved decision-making across the organization.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, physics, mathematics, statistics, economics or related quantitative field.
  • Minimum four years working in data & analytics to drive business outcomes
  • Expertise in data warehouse architecture, ETL processes, and modern data management technologies.
  • High proficiency in databases (e.g: PostgreSQL, MySQL) and query languages (e.g: SQL) Knowledge of scripting languages like R, Python etc. a plus.
  • Excellent leadership and communication skills with a proven ability to influence and collaborate across the organization.
  • Hands-on experience with data platforms such as Tableau, Redshift, and Metabase. Experience with AWS data products a plus.
  • Comfortable with being able to deal with uncertainty in data
  • Strong team player with a passion for customer success, data and problem solving "Can do" attitude with a desire to make an impact.

Salary

  • The salary for this role is $130,000 - $150,000 per year. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to education, work experience, certifications, internal equity, etc.

How You Will Work

This will be a US based position. We offer flexible work arrangements including fully remote, in person or hybrid opportunities. For those looking to work in person, we have physical offices in the following cities:

  • Ann Arbor, MI
  • Wayne, PA
  • Austin, TX

Many DaySmart employees primarily work from home, and our teams are structured to operate efficiently in a distributed environment. While we don’t always share a physical office, we work together closely through remote collaboration practices.
