Position Summary:

The Human Resources Generalist provides comprehensive HR support across multiple functional areas with a strong focus on employee relations, benefits administration, and leave management. This role acts as a trusted partner to leaders and employees, ensuring consistent application of policies, compliance with federal and state regulations, and alignment with organizational values. The HR Generalist will also lead new hire benefits onboarding, support ADA and accommodation process, and assist with the implementation of HR policies and procedures.

Hours / Schedule:

Full Time, working Monday – Friday, 8:00am – 5:00pm

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Healthcare Administration or related field.

  • An equivalent combination of education and 8-10 years of progressive HR experience may be considered.

  • 8+ years of HR Generalist or HR Business Partner experience with strong employee relation expertise.

  • Previous experience in a healthcare setting preferred; experience in Home Health or Hospice strongly preferred.

  • Demonstrated experience in leave management (FMLA, ADA, STD) and benefits administration strongly preferred.

  • PHR or SHRM-CP preferred.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Serve as a primary HR contact for employee relations matters, providing coaching, guidance, and support to leaders and staff.

  • Conduct thorough and objective investigations, including documentation review, fact-finding, and recommended outcomes.

  • Partner with leaders on performance management, corrective action, conflict resolution, and policy interpretation.

  • Ensure consistent, fair, and compliant application of HR policies and practices across all assigned locations.

  • Administer and support employee benefit programs, including medical, dental, vision, life insurance, retirement plans, and supplemental benefits.

  • Lead New Employee Benefits Orientation during onboarding, ensuring clear communication of benefit offerings and enrollment requirements.

  • Serve as a primary point of contact for benefit-related questions and escalate issues to carriers or brokers as needed.

  • Assist with annual open enrollment activities, including planning, communication, and employee support.

  • Administer and coordinate all employee leave programs, including FMLA, personal leave, medical leave, and state-specific leave requirements.

  • Serve as the primary contact for employees regarding leave eligibility, documentation requirements, timelines, and return-to-work expectations.

  • Facilitate the ADA interactive process, including obtaining and reviewing medical documentation, evaluating reasonable accommodations, and partnering with leaders to determine feasibility based on essential job functions.

  • Oversee Short-Term Disability (STD) claims by coordinating with employees, third-party administrators, and healthcare providers to ensure accurate and timely processing.

  • Ensure alignment and consistency across leave, ADA, and STD processes, including documentation, communication, and compliance with federal, state, and organizational policies.

  • Maintain accurate tracking, reporting, and recordkeeping for all leaves, accommodations, and disability claims.

  • Provide guidance to employees and leaders on HR policies, procedures, and the employee handbook.

  • Assist with policy updates and ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws.

  • Partner with HR leadership on organizational initiatives, process improvements, and special projects.

  • Build strong, collaborative relationships with leaders, employees, and cross-functional partners to support organizational goals.

  • Perform other HR duties as assigned by management to support department goals and initiatives.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Strong knowledge of employment laws (FMLA, ADA, FLSA, EEO, HIPAA) and HR best practices.

  • Solid experience in employee relations, investigations, coaching, and conflict resolution.

  • Working knowledge of benefits administration and leave/ADA/STD processes.

  • Ability to interpret and apply policies and regulatory requirements consistently.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build trust and influence.

  • High attention to detail, strong organization, and ability to manage multiple priorities.

  • Proficiency with HRIS systems (Workday preferred) and Microsoft Office tools.

  • Ability to maintain confidentiality, exercise sound judgment, and handle sensitive issues professionally.
