We are seeking a highly skilled Machine Builer to join our Production team in Oberlin, OH. The Machine Builder is responsible for assembling, testing, and troubleshooting custom automation equipment used in greenhouse and horticulture environments. This role requires mechanical aptitude, attention to detail, and the ability to interpret technical drawings and schematics.

Responsibilities:

  • Assemble mechanical, pneumatic, and electrical components of automation systems according to engineering drawings and specifications.
  • Perform functional testing and quality checks on completed systems.
  • Collaborate with engineering and production teams to resolve design or assembly issues.
  • Maintain accurate records of build progress, modifications, and part usage.
  • Assist in the installation and commissioning of systems at customer sites as needed.
  • Follow all safety protocols and maintain a clean, organized work area.

Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, skills, and abilities required)

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • 2+ years of experience in mechanical assembly or machine building.
  • Technical certification or associate degree in mechanical, electrical, or industrial technology.
  • Experience in the greenhouse, horticulture, or agricultural automation industry, preferred.
  • Forklift certification or willingness to obtain.
  • Proficiency in reading mechanical drawings, blueprints, and wiring diagrams.
  • Experience in welding and fabrication of machine parts, preferred.
  • Familiarity with hand tools, power tools, and precision measuring instruments.
  • Basic understanding of pneumatics and electrical systems.
