You will work closely with our Director of Finance as well as our CFO and VP of Finance as well as the rest of the Finance Team and interact with other team members across our organization. Our ideal candidate will be excellent at analyzing financial data, understand budgeting and forecasting, and will be integral to a timely close in our month-end process. We are looking for an individual with strong attention to detail, an effective communicator with good interpersonal skills, and integrity and honesty.
Responsibilities
· Oversee accounts payable bill entry and coding and prepare weekly payment proposals for Director of Finance.
· Daily reconciliation of multiple bank accounts for multiple entities.
· Posts bi-weekly Payroll entries and accruals. Monthly reconciliations of vacation accruals.
· Performs general ledger account reconciliations and verifies the accuracy of data.
· Creates and maintains balance sheet schedules for multiple entities including Prepaid expenses, Amortization and Depreciation.
· Performs month-end closing checklist procedures in a timely manner.
· Research and correct account discrepancies.
· Prepares and submits Sales and Use Tax Filings.
· Assists CFO and Director of Finance with annual external financial reviews and audits; gathers necessary account information and documents to perform an annual audit.
· Assists with compiling 1099 data yearly.
· Coordinates with Director of Finance to maintain accounting software systems; recommends updates to enhance the accounting software.
· Prepares special financial reports as requested by management by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing account information and trends.
· Collaborate with finance personnel to formulate approaches for creating more-accurate financial records and models for the company.
· Implement feedback and changes whenever possible to consistently improve processes.
· Assist Director Finance with special projects and workflow process improvements.
· Assisting with other miscellaneous finance projects as requested
· Assist other finance and accounting department members as needed.
· In an absence, ability to cover for finance & accounting team members.
· Maintains knowledge of generally acceptable accounting practices and procedures (GAAP).
· Bachelor's Degree required, preferably in finance, accounting, business, or economics
· CPA or progress toward CPA certification preferred; MBA is a plus, but not required
· 5+ years of hands-on accounting experience
· Preferred industries: Software & Technology, Education
· Exceptional knowledge of current GAAP accounting, Income Statements, Balance Sheets, Cash Flow, and Software revenue recognition rules and deferred revenue accounting
· Excellent financial project management and financial technology stack knowledge and skills
· Expert Microsoft Excel skills (i.e., Pivot Tables, V-Lookups)
· Proficiency in accounting software (QuickBooksOnline, Bill.com, Liquid.com), Microsoft Office Suite and Google Docs
· Experience leading external financial audits
· Working knowledge of federal, state, and local tax compliance regulations and reporting
· Ability to work independently and as part of a team; strong problem solver; can exercise sound judgment
· Strong communication skills (written and verbal)
· Deliver results within tight timeframes without sacrificing accuracy/details
